A Sorted List of Every Podcast Episode

a podcast for creative people, by creative people
Available on APPLE, SPOTIFY, and everywhere else.

Hey folks,

Thanks for your interest in Creative Ops–a podcast for creative people. Awhile back I put out a list of every guest sorted by what type of thing they do. I’ve added the recent guests since then, but also put in all the solo episodes that I’ve put out. Unlike the interviews, which tend to be an hour or more, the solos are typically pretty short. So, if you’re looking for a quick listen, say something under 20 minutes, try those.

Enjoy browsing. I hope you find something interesting. If you like what you hear, let me know on social media!

Creative Ops | Ep.20 | Jake Bryan – HEARTSICK Drummer & Music Lover Creative Ops

As a drummer, I was excited to nerd out with my new buddy, Jake Bryan. Jake is the drummer for HEARTSICK, the Lansing-based band that's been playing loud music for 20 years. I started following this band even before Jake joined. As you'll find out, he joined the band around the same time I left the Lansing area for good. Jake came from a musical family, where his passion for drumming was highly encouraged from a young age. In his teens, he found his passion as a traveling performer with the school band when they performed in Florida and New York City. Before joining Heartsick, he played drums in a Final Fantasy themed metal band–something I wasn't aware was a thing. Creative Ops | Ep.33 | Mike Logan – ADD & Homegrown Weed Creative Ops

Got to sit down with the Ice Cold Comedian, Mike Logan…IN HIS HOUSE! (He's got a bad leg at the moment, so I came to him. You'll hear some neighborhood noise in the interview.)  I named this one "ADD & Homegrown Weed" because those were the main obstacles early in our conversation. But once it got going, Mike and I had a great talk. We, of course, covered creativity and the creative process, but we got into all kinds of other stuff: moving from place to place, racism, goal setting/changing goals as you age, classic art, how the media tries to convince us we're divided when, in Mike's opinion, we've actually been brought closer together in the last year and a half.  Mike tells stories from the entertainment industry, does a few impressions, cracks me up, and shares his fascinating perspective on a wide variety of topics.  Follow Mike Logan on all your favorite social media platforms @icecoldcomedian for updates on performances, a daily dose of wholesome, and some hard-but-necessary truths. We met through podcasting–he formerly co-hosted the extremely popular Gig Economy Podcast, which is also under the Hey Guys Media umbrella. Peter's always been a self-described computer guy. We talked about his history with gaming (which consoles he likes, PC vs Consoles, Twitch, Steam, etc…) Discord, his history of fun internet antics, podcasting, DJing, and all things related to his past and present passion of gaming. If you like what you hear, you can get more at Peter's:  Official Website Twitch Channel YouTube Channel Instagram: @GamingWithRetep Facebook: @GamingWithRetep Twitter: @GamingWithRetep TikTok: @GamingWithRetep  . . . I also mentioned this book: Alone Together (Why Your Kids Are Watching Others Play) by RK Holliday. . . . Thanks -CT

Creative Ops | Ep.36 | Andrew Smith – Why We Left Teaching… Creative Ops

Andrew "Drew" Smith is my old friend and fellow former educator. We both taught for half a decade or so before venturing into different careers. However, our training–both in content and in pedagogy–prepared us surprisingly well for our chosen paths. Listen as we discuss our best and worst memories, how teachers REALLY talk in the teachers' lounge (sadly, it's always very good), and what it was like for Drew as an intern trying to teach non-English speaking refugees who were illiterate in their native language and never received formal education. (Amongst other things.) I mentioned the book EXPLORE/CREATE by , and I highly recommend it. Thanks for listening. . . . Check out Hey Guys Media Group if you're interested in starting a podcast!

Ep.49 | How to Raise a Creative Genius with Special Guest…MY MOM! (First show of 2022!) Creative Ops

Ok, so the title may seem a bit outrageous, but it's supposed to be tongue-in-cheek, people. Rather than get interviewed by someone else or perform an autobiography in the vein of a get-to-know-your-host style program, I interviewed my mom about what it was like to raise me. As we talk about, I hated school and decided to almost completely tune out for the last half of my public education. I was most commonly described by teachers as "smart but he doesn't apply himself." I graduated high school with a 2.01GPA. That whole time, my mom was always about as cool as a person could be in that situation, which is probably why that part of my life hasn't deterred me from doing what I **really** want to do. If you were kind of an asshole as a kid, this might be an interesting memory jogger. If your kid is kind of an asshole now, this might be informative and relieve your soul a little bit. Or not. I don't pretend to know about stuff like that; I'm just a creative genius with a cool mom. . . . Find me, Christopher Tallon, on http://www.christophertallon.com, or on your favorite socials @TallonWrites. (My mom doesn't do social media, but I'll tell her you said "Hi")

Creative Ops | Ep.26 | Christopher Tallon – Excuses, Apologies, Updates, and a Live Performance Creative Ops

Sh*t happens. I missed my deadline. I'll tell you all about it, give you updates on me and the show, and–because I love ya–I pick up my guitar around the 9 minute mark and sing you an original song and a cover. The original song is actually the intro song for the show. The cover is an obscure one by a fella from Texas named John Hatch, who unfortunately passed away before I ever heard his music.  Head over to http://www.christophertallon.com to see what's going on. Hit me up on Instagram and let me know what you think of the show. (If you're mean, at least be funny.) If you're reading this, leave a review and rating wherever you download the show. Please and thank you. Later! -CT

Creative Ops | Ep.35 | Christopher Tallon solo: Video Games, ADD (always), Education Creative Ops

I reflect on Episode 34 in which I interviewed Twitch gamer, Peter Spaulding. I wanted to follow up on that conversation with some research about the good AND bad of gaming. Pros, cons, how to tell if you're addicted, good habits, bad habits, mental health effects, and so on. I also give a little bit of a teaser for next week's interview. I sat down with fellow former educator, Andrew Smith. We talk about what kind of students we were, why we got into teaching, why we left, and all that jazz. If you like the show, rate it AND review it (reviews are a big deal for podcasts), tell a friend, tattoo the name of the show on your forehead, etc… You can catch me on my Instagram more often than not, as well as the other SM platforms, as @tallonwrites. Creative Ops | Ep.39 | SOLO: Cops, Tickets, and F*cked Up Audio (PLUS a Bonus Musical Track!) Creative Ops

I get pulled over for no goddamn reason. I get a parking ticket for being a dumbass. I passive-aggressively punk City Hall. I almost ruin my own podcast with my embarrassing lack of technical knowledge. BONUS MUSICAL TRACK BY DJ CLAW (Made with last week's f*cked up audio track) . . . Shout out to Hey Guys Media Group and A Talk in the Attic

Creative Ops | Ep41 | Christopher Tallon: Imposter or Bad Motherf**ker? Creative Ops

Creative people (if not all people) deal with imposter syndrome. I talked to Alexis Flakes about it for next week's episode and it really got me thinking. I wrote a blog about it the other day (on wwww.christophertallon.com/blog) and decided to continue the trend here on this: the podcast for creative people, by creative people. Find out about imposter syndrome, what it looks like, where it comes from, and a few strategies to help you stay calm and keep creating. . . . There's some original music by yours truly, a little music from last week's interview with Joe from The Legal Immigrants, and a tiny snippet of my next guest. Hope to see you back for that one. . . . Good people of Ontario, Canada. I meant to say Thanks eh! on the show and forgot. Lots of love to the Canadian listeners. (Michigan is so close that I consider us cousins!)
