The Anxiety Dog Sat on My Feet…And Now I Have PTSD

Open photo

When I sold books at the GR Litfest (which is an awesome event, by the way) my table was next to another writer by the name of Lynne Schmidt. Lynne has a support dog named Zootie. This dog loved me. Like, wanted to sit by me practically the whole time. At one point she laid on my feet. Lynne said, “Do you have anxiety?”

“Kinda.”

“Are you about to have a panic attack?”

“No. I’m at baseline right now. Why?”

She explained that Zootie was trained to lay on someone’s feet when they’re about to have a panic attack, which shocked me a little bit. I’m an Iraq vet who has been told by a few people that I might have PTSD, anxiety, or some such thing. But it wasn’t until this trained animal sat on my feet that I was like, Maybe I should look into this. So I’ve spent the last couple months getting help for that and trying to take care of myself. Here’s a little breakdown of what’s happened since my last newsletter.

BUY MY BOOKS

They’re really good

I did a book giveaway. Stay tuned for more stuff like that in the future. In the meantime, Sleepwalker Angel and Switchers are available on my websiteAmazon, and Barnes&Noble. If you want to buy one or both books, buying them from my site gives me the most money. I appreciate that some folks have gift cards, memberships, and whatnot, so as long as you’re reading…I’m a happy friggin guy.

LIVE APPEARANCES

No More GalaxyCons (This Year (Hopefullly))

The crew I’ve been doing GalaxyCons with has decided to hang it up for the remainder of 2025. I hope they come back next year. We’ll see.

That was my big plan for selling books this year, so until/if I start doing GalaxyCons again I’m doing a couple shows in Michigan (around Grand Rapids and Lansing) and a one day ComicCon in Lafayette, IN. If you really want to know what the hell I’m up to…
