I’m Not Releasing This Book…

pre-order christopher tallon's new novel, Sleepwalker Angel (from the author of Switchers)

My next book is called Sleepwalker Angel. I’ve bee promoting it a little here and there hoping that it would be in print and ready to sell in, like, two weeks.

Spoiler alert: It will NOT be ready.

Sorry.

It Ain’t Ready

I’ve been writing, editing, writing, and doing my damnedest to get this book ready by the Chicago Comic-Con. I have thought and thought and overthought how I could get this done.

What I came to was this:

I’m not releasing the book. Yet…

Here’s how I came to this:

Upon Reflection

I was smashing through writing this book as fast as I could. Granted, I don’t write fast to begin with–I write by hand first, type it out (making changes along the way), then I read and edit on paper, then go back and type the changes.

I’m almost done with the climactic scene, then I’ll have to do a little resolution, then I’m done. In an effort to go as fast as possible, I sent most of the book to my amazing editor, TJ Tranchell, and asked him to start without the end and I’d get it to him (hopefully) before he finished.

But as I thought about what all would have to happen to hit my self-imposed (keep that in mind) deadline, I started getting anxious.

Anxious about the cover being just right in time. Anxious about having enough time to make it clean and thoroughly go through my editor’s feedback. Anxious about formatting it in time. Anxious about my new printer actually being ready and able to do what I need, when I need it.

Finally I said, “This is stupid. My deadline is self-imposed since I publish myself. I’m the only person who can say, ‘It HAS to be done by this time.’”

It wasn’t worth the anxiety. Then I asked myself, “Five years from now will I be more proud that I met my stupid deadline, or that I put out the best possible book I was capable of at the time?”

That was an easy answer. I e-mailed my editor and told hit to hold off reading and give me another month. (He’s gonna read it anyway, so he says, because he “enjoys seeing the process play out.” More power to him.)

I figured, be honest with the people. So here’s me telling you, Sorry I’m not gonna get the book out when I said. But I’d rather you were annoyed how long it took instead of annoyed that the book didn’t seem like I gave it my absolute best.

If you want to order your copy now, you still can. You’ll get your copy (paperback or ebook) as soon as everything is done and ready to go.

Want to Pre-Order Sleepwalker Angel ?

I have the pre-order link up…right…HERE! I plan to have the book out in the fall, hopefully no later than Halloween (which is also my editor‘s birthday (click the link and check his badass books out)).

As of now, the only place to pre-order Sleepwalker Angel is at the store in my website, www.christophertallon.com.

There’ll be other options, if you insist on using that big online retailer. Eventually. Probably. We’ll see. I dunno.

See ya later!
